On 2,500 square meters, we created a new supermarket experience with Schweitzer, with as goal creating the Sustainable Supermarket of the Future. Our canvas was a sustainable, wooden-structured architectural building. For us, sustainability in interior design means “less but better”: embracing the natural beauty of materials without unnecessary decoration, with a focus on transparency and detail.

We selected materials with the lowest footprint, using our Be-Leaf model (transport, footprint, circularity, and lifespan). We also experimented with circular materials, such as panels made from coffee waste, and used second-hand items where possible, like the lighting in the seating area at Dorfmanns Treffpunkt. In collaboration with Actual Amsterdam, we introduced innovative techniques in the interior design, including large, circular 3D-printed navigation elements. The printed graphics can be fully recycled into new 3D-printed elements at the end of their lifespan.
